JDLO Junior General Practice Lawyer
John Dean Law Office Seeks a Qualified Lawyer
to Assist with General Practice Matters
The successful candidate will be required to:
• Assist in the day-to-day management of client matters with an emphasis on criminal and family legal aid clients assigned to John Dean Law Office;
• Be up to date with Family and Criminal Law and Procedure;
• Keep the Principal up to date with progress on files;
• Draft submissions, memoranda and other necessary documents for court appearances;
• Appear in the District Court and High Court for hearings ranging from general call overs or case review hearings to trials and sentencing matters.
There may be opportunity for the right candidate to assist with work in other areas of the practice - see JDLO’s Web Page.
The right applicant will be:
1. Admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in New Zealand with a current New Zealand Practising Certificate (or able to obtain one quickly);
2. Highly Computer literate, especially in Word, Excel and database management;
3. Able to work on a remote digital platform;
4. Good at research and have excellent writing skills;
5. The holder of a current full driver licence, and have access to a vehicle;
6. Interested in solving problems;
7. Able to communicate – particularly when the Principal is not in the main office;
8. Able to gofer it;
9. Able to work under pressure and multitask;
10. A good team member;
11. Self motivated;
12. Flexible as to work hours and work load.
A very good knowledge of civil, family and criminal procedure is required.
?Salary arrangements negotiable depending on experience.
