John Dean LlB
John is the principal of John Dean Law Office. He was admitted to the bar in 1974, having worked as a law clerk whilst finishing his studies at Victoria University. John is a member of the New Zealand Law Society, and its Wellington Branch, the International Bar Association and Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce.
John is a third generation lawyer and has been involved in a wide general practice of the law. He has considerable expertise and experience in the areas set out in our What We Do page.
John is interested in all sports, and participates in cricket, golf, fishing and tennis. John also has an active interest in the Arts, especially theatre and music. He has served as Chairman of Wellington Regional Orchestra and President of Wellington Repertory Theatre, of which he is a life member. He was also a trustee of Wellington Community Net, a community web hosting site for non profit groups in the Wellington Region. Currently, he organises a cricket team called Everyone Else, which plays in the Cricket Wellington Vintage Grade.
John for some 20 years was an active Rotarian. His involvement in Rotary has been varied and busy, including Past President of Wellington Harbour City Rotary, Paul Harris Fellow, club services director, HCR Weekly Editor; and more recently treasurer and webmaster. He lead a Group Study Exchange team to Lancashire and the Lake District. For many years he was Secretary of the New Zealand International Fellowship of Cricket Loving Rotarians. He has been Chairman of IFCR and Chairman of New Zealand International Fellowship of Cricket Loving Rotarians.
John has set up and designed and administer several web pages. Amongst them is JDLO's web site and Veterans Cricket New Zealand, vcnz.org, a charitable trust of which he was an inaugural trustee. Also the twnzbsb.org: Tinakori Wellington Beefsteak and Burgundy Club.

Rachael Barton FNZILE
Rachael Barton has been with John Dean Law Office since its inception in 1979. Rachael is the Practice Manager for the firm. She also undertakes a wide range of legal work including conveyancing and all related electronic property transactions; estate and trust administration work and commercial work. Rachael is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives.
Rachael is also a Paul Harris Fellow and was a Member of Harbour City Rotary Club.
